Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)

An ID card with cartoonish hands, feet, and eyes. The text "Exchange Student Identity Card" appears on the card.

Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) is ICE’s database used to track noncitizens who enter the United States as students and exchange visitors, as well as their dependents. It stores information gathered as part of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), which oversees enrollment of foreign students at US schools. SEVP tracks in real-time nonimmigrant students, their dependents, and the schools and sponsors that host them.Footnote 1
